Hackett’s Orchard in South Hero has been around for over sixty years and still it is growing and evolving.
“Hackett’s Orchard has grown in South Hero, VT since 1967. A family-owned diversified farm and market with 47 varieties of apples, fresh cider doughnuts, apple cider, cider slush, and apple crisp.
Outside in the orchard we have been planting new varieties as well as pruned and fertilized the existing trees.
We have been renovating the salesroom and barn as well as gotten a few new Vermont products to sell! Depending on when the apples are ready, pick your own typically starts Labor Day and ends early October. We offer pick your own 7 days a week.”

Key Insights:
The prices are reasonable, and apple picking is a fun family activity.
Started going because they were the only orchard in the area with Macoun apples; continued because of the quality - excellent quality with a minimum of the local tourist fanfare (plenty high quality touristy stuff across the street at Allenholm farm).
They have apple crisp, cider, donuts, gourds, and pumpkins, as well as a variety of other produce in season, but in our opinion, the apples are the best.. We have been visiting Hackett's for about 40 years now!
It's a treasured family tradition, and the folks at Hackett's have always been welcoming and wonderful!.
Pumpkins, Apple cider donuts, 4 or 5 generations work the orchard every season.
