A day out with all the family in the fresh air at Bartlett’s Orchard is the perfect way to spend an autumnal day.

“Four Generations of the Bartlett family have been growing, packing and shipping apples for 71 years. Our fine trees produce an average crop of 11,000 bushels of apples every year on 24 acres of choice apple growing land on Lenox Mountain in rural Massachusetts. 

Open from Labor Day weekend until Columbus Day Weekend(estimated), Pick Your Own offers 13 varieties of apples to pick. The varieties include: Paula Red, Jona-Mac, McIntosh, Cortland, Gala, Macoun, Empire, Mutsu, Liberty, Ida Red, Jona-Gold, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious.”

Walking through the orchards, or picking peaches, and then eating a hot cider donut is a wonderful time to just “be” with friends and family. “For the best picking experience please wear long pants, socks & wear bug spray. We are also dog friendly in our picking fields! Please have your dog on a leash. Plan on carrying & carrying out your dogs waste. We also ask that you do not bring your dogs into the Farm Stand but you are more than welcome to be with them outside on our property. Thank you!”

Boston Hill Farm

Connors Farm is an amazing day out in the countryside for all the family to enjoy throughout the year. Each season brings its own host of activities. Whilst we are focusing on apple picking lets check out the best time for that at Connors. 

“Fall is a popular time of year at Connors Farm, when items such as pumpkins, hardy mums, native apples, freshly squeezed apple cider. During this season we offer “pick your own” apples and pumpkins. Try the challenge of our corn maze and afterwards, relax on a hayride around our farm. This is the busiest time of year for our bakery. Try our mouth watering hot apple cider donuts, or take home one of our famous apple, pumpkin, blueberry, 4-berry, strawberry rhubarb, peach, or cherry pies. Don’t forget our large selection of muffins, cookies, and breads.”

Connors Farm

Parlee Farms is a fabulous traditional working farm that grows stunning produce throughout the year. Be sure to visit during fall for some pick your own apples.

“At Parlee Farms, our Lowell MA area apple orchard covers over 19 acres. It is comprised of dwarf apple trees which, although small in stature, produce large, delicious apples. Typically from late August through October, we grow over 20 varieties of apples including Honey Crisp, MacIntosh, Gala, Early Fuji, Macoun, Cortland, Royal Empire, Decoster Jonagold, Cameo, and Golden Delicious. On weekends and fall holidays, hayrides are available to take you to the orchard. You can see our beautiful farm on your way to the orchard. After picking, the hayride will bring you back to the Farmstand, where you continue your perfect fall afternoon.”

Parlee Farms

You haven’t experienced fall in New England until you’ve picked your own perfectly ripe apple. Red Apple Farm can help you with that!

Every year our fruit is grown using Integrated Pest Management with conscious thought to people and the environment. Red Apple Farm

Treat your family to a day out at Russell Orchards where they can pick their own apples, explore the great outdoors and choose some scrumptious goodies from the farm shop. 

“Summertime, and the fields are bursting with fruits and veggies. Our own berries are being picked daily by our trusty field crew, where they line the shelves of the store for you to grab and go. Not only that, we stockpile and use up every ounce of that freshness in our deli items, baked goods and fruit wines; nothing goes to waste. Check out our amazing pastries, made from scratch daily, or take home a pie for your own freezer to bring a taste of summer to your family. Check the pick-your-own status every day on the  website or just give us a call.From the main barn/store, walk approximately 100 yards to the gate at the entrance to the orchard. Stop at the booth, pay the fee to the attendant. Please be prepared for an outdoor activity with appropriately sturdy footwear, sunscreen, insect repellent, and layered clothing.”

Whilst the apple picking at Shelburne Farm is very good there is much more to enjoy during your time there too including eating cider doughnuts, exploring the combine harvester playground, meeting the farm animals and hopping aboard for a hay ride! Located just on the outskirts of Boston they grow 90 different varieties of apples! 
“We have planted over 50 acres and 20,000 trees. We grow more than 90 apple varieties, 23 peach varieties and 4 pear varieties in our orchards!”

Shelburne Farm

A family trip to Tougas Farm is an absolute autumnal treat!
