Arata’s Pumpkin Farm is the “oldest sustainable pumpkin farm in San Mateo County.

Pumpkins have been a way of life at the Arata Farm since 1932.

We are dedicated to family fun for all ages. Every year we set up thousands of hay bales to construct our unique, world-famous Minotaur’s Labyrinth hay maze and we feature numerous other attractions for adults and children. Join the thousands that visit us annually for good, clean harvest-time entertainment, activities, and, of course, our pumpkins!

If you’re looking for the adventure of Minotaur’s Labyrinth but want to mix in a bit of spookiness and thrills, come take a trip inside our haunted barn. At over 6,000 square feet we guarantee it won’t be a quick journey. In fact, we can’t even promise you’ll make it out at all! We change up the scares every year so bring some friends and find out who among you can hold their nerve… this time.

Petting zoos are great family fun for all ages. We have a large variety of friendly animals including goats, bunny rabbits, white doves and many more! All of our critters love to be around people and love to be fed with treats that can be purchased at the farm. Come see and enjoy interacting with our furry family!”

Arata’s Pumpkin Farm

The Bates Nut Farm has “become well known for its special events held throughout the year on the 100 acre ranch. For over 30 years families have made it an annual tradition to come out to Bates during the month of October to celebrate the fall season.  The Pumpkin Patch is the largest, oldest and most famous in San Diego County. Arts & Crafts Fairs, Antiques, Collectibles & Crafts Markets, Fine Art Fairs, and Car Shows are held throughout the year. 

Our Farm Zoo is open daily from 9am - 5pm. Visit with mini-donkeys, goats, sheep, alpacas, emus, chickens, peacocks, ducks, geese, a tortoise & more! The animals love visitors, and will eat from your hands. Bags of animal feed can be purchased for $0.50; admission is free, $5.00 parking on October weekends. Open year round.

Make a day of it and bring a picnic to enjoy under the shade trees. Many families bring balls, bubbles and games for the kids to play. The picnic areas are open year round from 9am - 5pm.

Starting Late September - October 31, we’ll be here all week. Come down and create some memories of hayrides, maze, petting corral, pony rides, BBQ, and of course pick your perfect pumpkins from our unique varieties.”

The last ticket is sold at 4.00 pm weekdays and 3.45 pm weekends. this is intended to give you enough time to enjoy the activity before we close.

Big Horse Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Lopez Ranch was founded by “Eleuterio and Arcadia Lopez in 1935. Eventually the family became land owners and farmers in Northern and Southern California and had a very popular gourmet market and nursery on Jefferson Blvd, in Mar Vista. In 1967 Charlie Lopez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lopez, decided to cultivate pumpkins on the Mar Vista property and the rest is history!

Lopez Ranch was the first pumpkin patch in California and is the only native Angeleno-owned pumpkin patch in the Venice area. The “Big Pumpkin” was born in 1968 — this has become a Halloween tradition for generations and generations to come!

Only one trail is correct, and only the right decisions will get you out of the maze! Don’t worry, if you get lost, there is help, if you ask for it. Irvine Park Railroad's 2026 Pumpkin Patch runs September 12 through October 31 inside Irvine Regional Park. Activities include train and wagon rides, carnival games, pumpkin decorating, and pumpkins for purchase. Reservations are required for October weekend entry.
