Lyman Orchards really is a big deal! From a modest working farm to the huge family attraction it is today, it has much to offer families.
“In their wildest dreams, colonial farmer John Lyman and his wife, Hope, could not have envisioned the complex and diverse enterprise that would evolve from their purchase in 1741 of a 37-acre parcel of land in what is now Middlefield. Now covering more than 1,100 acres of scenic farmland, Lyman Orchards is one of the most popular family attractions in New England.
350,000 blooming Sunflowers are crafted into a unique design to create a sunflower maze. $1 from every admission supports the Connecticut Children’s Pediatric Care Unit. We want people to reach for the stars in their lives.

- We visit every year in late July to walk the sunflower fields and enjoy the delicious ice cream and support a great cause.
- This year they added pick your own sunflowers which was a fun experience and we left with several bunches.
- All said and done, good memories there and we'll be back just like we always have.. Beautiful stunning fields of Sunflowers and a spot to get fresh cut ones as well.
