Moon Farm
Fruit Picking Farms
Moon Farm takes their strawberry growing very seriously. It has a rich and fascinating history too.
“Today, Moon Farms has grown to over 1350 acres of owned and rented land in three counties. Moon Farms predominately harvests soybeans, wheat, corn and grain sorghum in addition to raising beef cattle. In 2010, Russ and Mandy made the decision to take the farm to a new level and add you-pick strawberries and open up to the public as Moon Farms Country Market. Moon Farms Country Market is now up to 4 acres of strawberries in production annually. We are excited to be able to share our working farm with you!
At Moon Farms Country Market, we strive to provide you with the sweetest, juiciest, and finest strawberries in the Athens area. Yearly, we plant over 48,000 plants consisting of many different varieties of strawberries. Some of the varieties we plant are Camarosa, Albion, Fronteras, and Ruby June. All of these varieties are well known for their large and flavorful fruit. We plant our strawberries on raised plastic beds to provide you with the cleanest, easiest to pick, and highest quality berry you can get anywhere. Feel free to ask us more about all the varieties we have growing at the farm!”
